LVM provides the possibility to take a snapshot of a LV. This means that it freezes the status of the specified LV and stores all future changes separately. You can so on the same time continue working and make a backup of your LV without risking to have inconsistent datas.
I'm sorry but I didn't try this feature yet. As soon as I test it, I will update this section.
